CLEANUP and SANITATION
Keeping the cages clean after being used for a culture is very important. The Sterilite boxes make this a cinch. They are lightweight and durable and not much sticks to them.

Add a little warm water (1 cup) into a box and give it a couple of squirts of Simple Green. Tilt the box a few times to distribute the solution and then use a large soft brush (I use a soft tire brush) to loosen up anything sticking on the bottom and up the sides. Then rinse out the box a few times and set upside down on an angle to dry. This process takes less than 60 seconds.

The water devices are rinsed to remove any buildup and then soaked in Stain Solver from 20 minutes to overnight. See Supplies of details on the cleaning agents I use and why I use them and where to obtain them.

The pop bottles used as a water supply are filled to the brim with warm water, add some Stain Solver, and allowed so sit for a few minutes while the oxygen removes any scum buildup from inside the bottles. Rinse thoroughly.

Both Simple Green and Stain Solver are environmentally friendly and should any residue be present, it should be harmless to the crickets.
